Making a difference
I often refer to Iran as my drunken mother. While she treated me badly, she is still my mother. And Australia is my adopted mother, who picked me up, took me in, and loved me when I needed her to.
Did you know that under the legal system in Iran, a woman is owned by either her father, brother, or husband? Yes, owned, just like we own a toaster or TV in Australia! Women in Iran have very little financial independence, and it is even worse for divorced, abandoned, or displaced women. So if a wife is abused in any way, the legal system supports the husband, leaving the wife no option but to stay in the abusive relationship. Fortunately not all Iranian men take advantage of this system, but still many do, like my ex-husband.
I am very proud to announce that through your support of my little business, I am now able to donate to displaced and disadvantaged women. This helps to enable these women to regain financial independence, which would otherwise be impossible.
So thank you all for supporting my little business, and making a difference to disadvantaged women who can't escape their "drunken mother".
